Dr. Hamamdjian offers two types of implant options to his Atlanta patients, including:
Silicone implants are made with a soft outer shell that has been prefilled with an elastic silicone gel. Many women who have chosen this implant type believe their results look and feel the most natural to breast tissue.
Saline implants are composed of a silicone outer shell that is filled with a sterile saline solution after their insertion in the chest, allowing for a small incision, short scar, and more customized results. Dr. Hamamdjian can add as little or as much saline solution as needed to create your desired results.
What Kind of Techniques Are Used During Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation techniques vary regarding the location of the incisions and whether the implant is placed under the breast tissue, under the outer covering of the chest muscle or under the chest muscle. Dr. Hamamdjian will suggest the method he believes will benefit you the most after examining your current breast size and discussing your goals. The technique chosen will also largely depend on your anatomy and your implant.

What Happens During a Breast Implant Procedure?
Breast augmentation surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia at a fully accredited surgical facility.
Once the incisions are made, Dr. Hamamdjian will create a small pocket inside the breast to strategically place the implant pocket. He will then shape your breasts to create the best result. If saline implants are chosen, he will fill the implants with the sterile saline solution until he has reached your desired breast size and shape.
When Dr. Hamamdjian is satisfied with the results, the incisions will be sutured with dissolvable stitches and dressed for recovery. Once you have fully emerged from anesthesia, you’ll be released to go home with a trusted friend or family member who can drive you as you’ll still be groggy and numb from surgery.
What to Expect from Breast Augmentation Recovery
Most women feel well enough to return to non-strenuous work after three days of recovery. Dr. Hamamdjian likes for his patients to begin walking the night after surgery to help with circulation. This helps decrease postoperative complications. Most can resume normal exercise and lift in about a month.
Patients must wear a surgical bra for 4-6 weeks to provide compression and added support while the breasts settle into their new shape and position. We also encourage patients to sleep on their backs as much as possible, as this will provide the most comfort and reduce unwanted pressure on the breasts.
