The threads are then activated to engaged the undersurface of the skin and lift the key areas of the face, mainly the cheeks, jawline, and neck. The ends of the threads are then trimmed and buried under the skin. The PDO threads provide an immediate lifting effect to restore youthful contours and results can last up to two years. Is PDO Thread Lift Right For Me?

Although everyone can benefit from this treatment, the best candidates are those typically in their 30’s to 40’s with early to moderate skin laxity.  Thread lifting can be combined with dermal fillers to yield the best results.

This combination of treatments is the key to avoid the much dreaded “overfilled syndrome” where an inexperienced injector injects too much filler in the face in effort to lift, meanwhile creating an unnatural and bloated appearance.  Dr. Carson Huynh treats patients with overfilled faces by first dissolving the excess fillers then retreat with PDO thread lift or surgical facelift, depending on individual need of the patient.

PDO Thread Lift vs. Surgical Facelift

  • Less downtime.  Most patients have no discomfort with little to none social downtime after thread lift
  • Lower cost.  Treatment cost can varies depending on the amount of threads used and treatment time for each patient’s specific needs.
  • No concern for scarring.
  • No need for general anesthesia
  • Additional touch up treatments may be needed for maintenance as the threads go away and facial aging continues.

FAQS

Dissolvable, medical-grade threads elevate and tighten your skin without surgery, providing a rejuvenated appearance. They can soften fine lines, lift sagging skin around the neckline and cheeks, and deliver a defined jawline. The threads also help increase collagen production, which improves skin elasticity and structure.

While providers can use three types of sutures to create thread lift results, Dr. Huyhn has chosen to exclusively employ polydioxanone threads for his Atlanta thread lift. PDO threads have the longest track record of safety and success, used in different surgeries since the ‘80s.

Before your PDO thread lift, you’ll receive local anesthesia to make your experience pain-free. Additionally, we are the only practice in Atlanta that is credentialed to provide “twilight” IV sedation for your comfort.  After the treatment, you may experience minimal discomfort and soreness. We suggest Arnicare gel, which is available for purchase in our office.

Convenience is one advantage of a PDO thread lift is quick. The procedure takes approximately a half-hour to complete, and you can return to your usual daily activities after leaving your appointment.

Most thread lifts last 18 months or longer. Once the effects fade, you can schedule a follow-up treatment to maintain your outstanding benefits.

A PDO thread lift recovery time ranges from two days to a week. Dr. Huynh will provide you with detailed instructions to help your recovery go smoothly and ensure you heal correctly.

The most common complications include pain, dimpling, thread extrusion, sensory malfunction, and allergic reactions to the threads. In addition, you may experience post-procedural side effects, including bruising, swelling, and ear numbness. You can minimize these undesirable outcomes by choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon to perform your PDO thread lift.

Generally, patients in their 30s or older with mild to moderate wrinkles, sagginess, and fine creases in the forehead, face, or neck are excellent candidates for a PDO thread lift. Dr. Huynh may also suggest a non-surgical facelift employing Kybella, dermal fillers, or Botox.

While all non-surgical options have the same goal of resolving facial flaws and aging symptoms, a PDO thread lift offers a quick and convenient solution to aging with minimal downtime. Sometimes, combining multiple non-surgical treatments offers comprehensive results in a single session.

Before your treatment, you should avoid smoking and alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours. Also, don’t take aspirin, Advil, ibuprofen, oral vitamin E, or anti-inflammatory drugs for a full day before your procedure. These products can promote bruising and bleeding and the treatment areas.

Because we will customize a PDO thread lift plan to address your unique needs, we can’t provide a detailed cost estimate without meeting with you in a private consultation.

Our patients typically see initial firming and lifting soon after their procedure, with benefits improving over the next three weeks or longer. As your body generates collagen, your skin will continue to get smoother and tighter over the next several weeks.

Keep your head elevated for a week afterward. Don’t massage, scrub, or exfoliate facial skin for at least three weeks. Don’t wash or touch your face for at least 12 hours. Follow the aftercare guidelines we provide regarding your incisions.
