Dr. C. Carson Huynh is driven by the belief that everyone deserves to fully express their aesthetic potentials and realize success. After growing up in rural Vietnam, where he saw many adults and children living with facial deformities such as cleft lips and palates, the struggle of these facial deformities left a lasting impression on Dr. Huynh and greatly influenced his decision to pursue a career in facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. He knew from the start that he wanted to develop the skills to one day help individuals living with facial deformities and have an impact on their self-confidence, success, and overall outlook on life.

Over the past 20 years, Dr. Huynh completed his undergraduate studies in Atlanta and earned his DMD from the Medical College of Georgia and his MD from the Emory University School of Medicine, where he also completed a year of residency in General Surgery.

After working closely with specialists in the disciplines of Trauma and Critical Care, General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, and Plastic Surgery, Dr. Huynh decided to focus his work and studies on the complex anatomical structures and functions of the face. With the goal of helping people better their lives always at the forefront of his mind, he went on to complete a six-year residency program in Maxillofacial Surgery at Emory University, where he received intensive training in surgical reconstruction of traumatic injuries and congenital and developmental disorders of the face, head, and neck. With his discipline, attention to detail, and passion for his work, he was awarded the Robert A. Bays Achievement Award for achieving the highest exam scores.

Early Life

Due to poverty and lack of socioeconomic opportunities following the Vietnam War, Dr. Huynh and his father boarded a boat with ninety-six other immigrants and left Vietnam. After being robbed by pirates and left stranded on the open ocean for a week with little food and water, they were finally spotted by an oil rig worker who called for help. They were then brought to a refugee camp in Malaysia. After unimaginable hardship, they made it to America and settled in the Atlanta area where young Dr. Huynh received his primary and secondary education.

Education and Training

Upon completing his surgical training at Emory, which lead to his becoming chief resident, Dr. Huynh was selected for a highly sought-after Facial Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship under the guidance of Dr. T. William Evans, a renowned facial cosmetic surgeon. Under Dr. Evan’s tutelage, Dr. Huynh was chosen out of more than 40 candidates to pursue fellowship training—the highest formal education achievable by a physician and the gold standard in surgical education. He further honed his surgical abilities by operating with highly skilled plastic and cosmetic surgeons in New York City and Beverly Hills before deciding to open his own private practice in Atlanta- Radiance Surgery & Aesthetic Medicine.

With 15 years devoted towards higher education, medical school, and surgical training, Dr. Huynh is one of the few surgeons in the world who holds dual doctorate degrees in both highly specialized fields of maxillofacial and facial plastic surgery. To keep his skills sharp, Dr. Huynh routinely attends educational meetings each year so that he can continue to offer his patients the most cutting edge, innovative, and advanced methods in aesthetic medicine.

Giving Back to His Community

With his incredible story of immigration and overcoming insurmountable odds, Dr. Carson Huynh dedicates time to giving back to his community by being involved in charitable events close to home and abroad. In the summer of 2017, Dr. Huynh returned to his birth country of Vietnam as a volunteer surgeon where he provided pro-bono surgical services to underserved adults and children suffering from facial deformities. He considers this experience to be the biggest honor and accomplishment of his career.

In addition, due to his background as an immigrant, it’s extremely important to Dr. Huynh to celebrate and honor cultural diversity in his practice. Dr. Huynh creates an environment that tailors to patients of all different walks of life, from successful business executives, artists, celebrities, to young individuals just beginning their journey.

When not at the office, Dr. Huynh can be found playing with his three beautiful children and spending time doing the multitude of outdoor activities that Atlanta has to offer.
