Dr. Huynh performs rhinoplasty for the residents of Sandy Springs, GA.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery outpatient procedure that changes the aesthetics of the nose. The inner nose and cartilage is then reshaped while the patient is under anesthesia. A nasal splint is worn for the first week following the surgery with bruising and swelling that can be expected.
How is Rhinoplasty Performed?
Before undergoing rhinoplasty, patients first have a consultation with the plastic surgeon to determine how the nose will look after the surgery, discuss what to expect during the procedure, and address any concerns that the patient may have. The day of the surgery, patients are given anesthesia before an incision is made inside of the nose. A tool is then used to break the bone so that it can be reshaped. The bones are moved together after they are broken before the incisions are restructured. Rhinoplasty takes approximately one and a half to two hours to complete.
After the surgery, patients must refrain from participating in high levels of activity or exercises for three to six weeks following the procedure to ensure that the nose heals properly.
