Dr. Huynh does jaw surgery in Buckhead, GA.
What is Jaw Surgery?
Jaw surgery is a type of surgery designed to eliminate the problems and disorders associated with a misaligned jaw. Sleep apnea causes individuals to wake abruptly at night due to the body lacking the ability to inhale and exhale properly. This often occurs because the jaw doesn’t let air in and out. Others suffer from a large lower jaw that protrudes out from the face. A misaligned jaw can also make eating and talking difficult, and it may lower your self-confidence. While braces and other devices won’t work on all jaws, most patients can get help with jaw surgery.
How is Jaw Surgery Performed?
Before you can go through jaw surgery, you need to let the doctor take x-rays and imaging of your mouth. Dr. Huynh uses the information he finds from those images to talk with an orthodontist about why you need surgery. He’ll work closely with that doctor to decide whether you would benefit more from rearranging one or more teeth or adjusting the jaw itself. Moving your upper or lower jaw even a few millimeters to the left, right, up or down will change your bite and give you instant relief from your symptoms.
